My recent adventures with T-Mobile (@tmobile)

:UPDATE:

Added a picture below of the 3 Amigos aka the 3 phone I sent back to T-Mobile which will now be ‘refurbed‘ again and given to some other unsuspecting customer.  I wish them the best of luck and the only words of advice I can give to them is DON’T GIVE UP HOPE!  My THIRD refurbished phone SEEMS to be working right now.  GPS is still very flaky and not reliable.  Even with updating to Android 2.2 (official Samsung/T-Mobile) the GPS didn’t work.  I had to download and install the patch/fix provided by Samsung  called oddly enough “GpsRestore“.  Check out the full details by clicking on the link, but you can see that this is SUPPOSED to restore GPS config files for SGH-I897.  But this ‘fix’ only works for a few days and then you need to run the app again in hopes of it working again.  Also the gps will still randomly telling me I am moving (5-10mph) while sitting still or randomly shows that I am 2-3 blocks away from my current location.  Guess I will just hold out for the next ‘fix’ or update.

I need to trim how many calories per day?

Just a quick blurb on something I saw this morning.

—————–

The amount of calories you need at rest per activity level:

* Sedentary: 3075
* Light: 3354
* Moderate: 3634
* Active: 3913

You need to trim 1944 calories per day to lose 100 lbs. in 180 days.

————–

So per this online calculator I need to trim 1944 calories per day to loss 100 lbs in 180 days (aka 6 months).  This is odd since I would say that 5 out of 7 days I’m lucky if I eat 1944 calories per day.  I clearly rank up there with the ‘sedentary’ activity level, but I am working on changing that.  (back to the gym tonight actually).  But I think what gets me is that even with just eating bad 2-3 days a week it can completely wreck any progress you may have already been making.  I know I need to be more strict on myself so that I can quickly accomplish the goal of losing my first 100 lbs, but its hard to stay focused when you never see any changes.  When you get brought to tears in the dressing room after trying on 5 pairs of jeans and just this activity has made you break out into a sweat you KNOW you have to do something about it.

Sadly for breakfast this morning I knocked down 16oz of whole milk (red cap goodness) and  two star crunches (roughly 870 calories total).  Afternoon snack was a Throwback Pepsi.  (150 calories) Now for the rest of the day I will drink water with crystal light fruit punch.  At 40 calories per every bottle (24oz bottle I think) this is not to bad, but I will have 1-3 of these each day so that is another 40-120 calories.  Now most days this will be it until I get home around 830-900 at night.  Most nights I repeat the same ‘meal’ as breakfast then go play xbox for a few hours before going to bed.   This ‘typical’ day puts me at 1810 calories for the day.  While it is 1810 EMPTY calories, its still below 2000 calories per day and over 1000 less then what I should be taking in to maintain my current weight.

Now not all days are like this since most mornings I don’t eat anything at all then come to work and drink water.  I each out at Subway, Chipotle and various other not so good for your places throughout the week.  Even though meal at Chipotle is only around 775  (info based off  Chipotle Nutrition Calculator 2.0) calories which is not to bad for a lunch meal that is my first meal of the day.   Some nights after work are bad and I will go home and have a meal or a few slices of Chanello’s pizza.   Still not really breaching the 2000 calories mark by much, if at all.  Now on the nights when I know I will be having Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner when I get off I wont eat anything substantial for the day.  I know this is bad, but in my mind its ok since I know I will consume 2000-2500 calories in one meal.  On those days I will drink water and if really hungry will eat a 100 calorie pack of popcorn some other 100 calorie snack pack.

I know this was supposed to be a ‘quick blurb’ and it did take me a few hours to write this off and on though the day.  But sometimes I just seem to ramble since there is so much going on in my head.  I would LOVE others feedback on this, I only ask that you don’t give me tips like watch what you eat and make sure you eat breakfast.  Trust me I know more about nutrition than the majority of those the will read this blog.  Hell most fat people know more about nutrition then the typical ‘certified’ nutritionist since we have all read all the books on weight loss and know the ins and outs to getting thin.  Once a person gets to a certain weight it seems we just kind give up.  Thankfully I’m still below my ‘I just don’t give a fuck anymore’ weight and still want to fight to get rid of this first 100 lbs.  I would just like tips on keeping focused on this goal, how to I keep forcing myself to go to the gym, how do I make myself get up early enough for work to allow for a decent breakfast.  Any of these types of tips or words of encouragement would be AWESOME!

The great quest for good health begins (again)

So here we go again boys and girls, I’m going to start a drastic diet to lose weight. I will keep checking back for updates

So starting tomorrow, I will be starting on a liquid diet for the next week. This is a test run since this stuff is uber expensive, but if I can stick to it for a week then its worth it.  I should be able to reasonably drop a minimum of 1-3 pounds a week. Hopefully more as I will be adding in lots of cardio aka treadmill time this week also.

As a person that doesn’t eat out of hunger, but out of boredom and the availability of food/snacks I’m hopeful that this diet will be successful.  I’m just under the big 400 and I see this as part of a last ditch effort.  I would really prefer not to die at 36yrs old or start getting fat people problems like diabetes, heart problems and random other fat people ailments.  I’ve been extremely lucky so far as being a ‘healthy’ fat guy since my labs always seem to come back perfect.  I figure I can’t wait for my health to deteriorate before I actually do what needs to be done.

So the plan is this:

3 MET-RX Meal Replacement shakes a day. (breakfast/lunch/dinner)

That’s it for the next 7 days. Total calories each day should be around 800-1000.  Protein intake will be 114 grams per day.  Now I might add in a small salad by the end of day 2-3 depending on how my mind and body adjust to this new diet.

I know some of you will doubt this is the best idea, but let me assure you this is the best plan of action for the current situation. Like I said this is just a test. If it works, great. If it doesn’t well at least I tried and I will just go back to the drawing board.  I just can’t keep doing what I’m doing which clearly has not been working.

That’s all for now, but will post again tomorrow with how the first day went.
